Finding Motivation In Any Season

Hey World,

The first quarter of this year brought about a lot of change. It also showed me that I'm a creature of habit. When I completed my new hire paperwork for my new job. I've been living and working at the same places for 9+ years. So for me to step into a new industry and organization was a big deal. And I won't add the extra layer of Covid 19, and considering my profession compounded with the whole Racial pandemic outside was enough to upset anyone's day-to-day routine.

So with that, my motivation has been all about work and balancing my mental well-being. I've been struggling with the latter, and I've found myself tapped out most days.

I had to seek God in every area of my life and intentionally make myself a priority. I thrive off of checking items off of my to-do list. Making myself a focus has been a challenge. I found that I can't rely on my own abilities. On those days, I have to remind myself of the scripture 2 Corinthians 12:10 KJV where it states Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong. This scripture reminds me that I don't need to have all of the answers, be "ON" at all times, and He is my strength. This walk called life does not promise us happiness at all times. We will have setbacks, challenges, hard times, etc. But I'm thankful that I'm not alone and God is my strength.

Ways to find motivation in any season

1. Seek God at all times

-during the good and bad times

-when you think you know the way and when you've lost your way

2. How I seek God

- spend time reading the Bible, prayer, worship, and journaling

3. Make yourself a priority

-intentionally add yourself to the top of your list

- if you can't make yourself #1, I challenge you to at least add yourself to the list

4. Tap into what you enjoy doing

-what tasks or hobbies bring you joy

-how does it make you feel

-why do you enjoy them

5. Make time to do it

One of my sisters is graduating with her MBA next month, we were having a conversation, and she mentioned that she wants her cap decorated for her graduation. Not only do I love arts and crafts, but I've also made my best friend's cap for her graduation a few years back. I quickly jumped at the opportunity to decorate her cap. She was shocked, and I was thrilled. I worked a full day, left my office, went into the dining room, and started decorating her cap. It took me no time, and I enjoyed getting my creative juices flowing. This activity brought me so much joy and motivated me to make time for activities that I love. This one task filled me up for days. The bonus was that she loved the cap.

What are some things that you can do to bring more joy into your life? I want to also leave you with this scripture, and I pray that it motivates you in this season of your life. Be encouraged to tap into the things in your heart that bring you joy and start there. Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Love,

Authentically Tee
